Be still, stop listening,
Murmurs, voices and muffled noise,
Sirens, alarms and bells,
For a moment, be still.
Hush... gentle flakes silently fall,
The window frame rattles to the tune of vibration,
The ticking of time, hypnotic, likened to a heart beating.
The disconcerting thunder of traffic,
Bellowing bassoons of the road,
Embrace the wish for a taoistic, natural sound,
My head, ultra - high frequency,
Rush... quickly screaching, listening but not hearing,
Unfinished, yet interfering.
Hush... the soft silent flakes are falling,
And... the rhythm of time is ticking.
